Recognized for Individual Excellence as an Editor or Writer by the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada for foster collaboration on stories of statewide significance. Placed first in Newspaper Headline Writing in the Society of Professional Journalists Florida Chapter’s Sunshine State Awards.

Worked my way up from general assignment reporter to editor of the Sunday editions of the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Wrote news, feature stories and opinion pieces, with persuasive writing skills recognized with two first place Sunshine State Awards for Newspaper Editorial Writing. Reporting topics included the environment, local government and travel. Supervised other journalists and edited their copy.
